Tour starts tomorrow...

and the month and a half of solid writing is done. Not to say that I'm stopping, but it will be nice to break up the monotony a tad with things like social activities, friends, food, shows, and such...

Here's a breakdown of what a month of Syrens Writing is like:

Wake up @ 9
Book tours until 1
Play guitar until 5 or 6
Take new riffs/songs to practice that night and make everybody really angry

Go home and sleep...repeat...

Exciting right?

Well although debatable it has yielded the three best songs we have ever written. The new song grooves along at a cool 225 bpm...
If the dirty looks you will inevitably see Dustin giving me at every show when it comes time to play those songs aren't any indication that's really really fast.

Here's the current score since Syrens songwriting is like a Mav's game:

42 riffs:3 songs:9 minutes

We are a third of the way there!

Tour begins tomorrow. See you soon.

And so it continues...

Hey friends,

I haven't been very productive for the past few weeks, but a slight case of writers block and enough guitar playing to kill a dinosaur later and I'm pumpin out the jams again.

This record is like the genetically altered shark that ate Samuel L Jackson in Deep Blue Sea.

Here's the current score:

41 riffs:2.5 songs:7.5 minutes of music.

The record is winning.

Just in case you were wondering, here is a list of the cds that we have been jamming/have inevitably been influencing the writing of this record (check all these records out. They'll cure even the strongest deathcore addiction):

1. Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve
2. Daughters - Hell Songs
3. The Locust - New Erections
4. Converge - No More Heroes
5. Young Widows - Old Wounds
6. Goatwhore - A Haunting Curse
7. Nasum - Shift
8. Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer
9. The Deftones - White Pony
10. Cynic - Traced In Air
11. Neurosis and Jarboe - S/T
12. Astronautilis - Pomegranate
13. The Paper Chase - Now You Are One Of Us
14. Killing The Dream - Fractures
15. Ed Gein - Judas Goats and Diesel Eaters

Those are currently the top 15 anyway. Check them out. They're better than any ultra br00t4l brakedownz you could ever throw down too...

Summer Tour/Album Update...

Syrens will be on tour w/ Love Begotten this June. It's gonna rule. We're totally expecting this tour to turn into a battle of stage presence since both bands seem to be fairly well known for our live shows...at least one person is going to break something...

The fun doesn't end there...

Almost immediately after we get home from that tour I will be making the trek up to Ft Smith, Arkansas to fill in for our dudes in the Handshake Murders on their July tour. Syrens will be joining us for a fairly substantial chunk of the tour so come out and watch me turn into a sweaty, incoherent mess as I play two intense metal sets back to back. Hopefully I'll lose 10 pounds and my nasty, globular, fat gut this summer.

As for the album update:
We met again for practice last night and decided we liked some things and disliked some others so here's the current score:

31 riffs:2 songs:6 minutes of music

Good stuff. I'm start some ideas for a new song today.

More to come soon.

Thanks for sticking with us.

A month of no touring...

Is starting to drive me insane. I have way more down time than I really need, but it's leading to great things. The full length is going to be out of control good.

49 riffs: 4 songs: 11 minutes of music

p.s. - everyone be happy...Chi from the Deftones is out of his coma!

We have a month off and...

Syrens is writing a full length.

38 riffs: 3 songs: 9 minutes of music...

More to come soon.

New way of updating...or dating...

Hail metal friends!

Here is our attempt to keep you more informed of our goings on. Hope you enjoy our halfway retarded ramblings...

The majority of our Spring touring is done and our EP has been unleashed upon the world. It's been a pretty incredible year so far. So many new friends and great shows. To say that we're glad we came back from the dead is an understatement.

We have a few shows left before summer touring starts:

April 25 @ Amp'd Venue w/ The Handshake Murders - Ft Smith, Arkansas
May 15 @ The Compound w/ Earth Crisis and Walls of Jericho - Albuquerque, New Mexico
May 16 @ No Man's Land - El Paso, Tx
May 29 @ The Brickhouse - Midland, Tx

Come check those out if you live anywhere near those towns. They're gonna be sweet.

We'll have summer plans announced soon.

Thanks for sticking with us. More soon.
